Website issues |

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 |
Good Day,
I have been receiving notes and phonecalls with regards to the website.
On December 10th Sportzone (who runs our website as well as other hockey leagues in the city) suffered some type of hacking which caused a slowdown in accessing there website. I do not know if this issue has been totally resolved but by the amount of time it still takes to access the admin side (where we input scores, gamesheets, suspensions, etc.) I doubt it as it still is not up to the speed that it has been in past seasons. A quick example is that when scores are phoned in to me I usually can update 14 scores in around 10 minutes two weeks ago this took me about 75 minutes. When a gamesheet used to take 5-10 minutes to enter this is no longer the case. This is not an excuse but rather an explanation of what has occurred. If you look at how quick scores and gamesheets were entered prior to Dec 10 you will see that gamesheets were entered within 48 hours (if not sooner). I still enter the scores the evenings which the games are played but it usually takes longer.
As for the standings 8 of the 10 divisions were to be reset back to zero. This was done. In the past two weeks players and team reps have contacted me indicating that the standings are not correct. Once again this is a Sportzone issue. Sportzone has been contacted about this and I am waiting for them to let me know when that has been cleaned up.
As for the schedule for round robin 4 we are working on that right now. The holdup right now is that I am waiting for Winsport COP to let me know what icetimes are available at there facility in March and April as some of the minor hockey league user groups have started to return iceslots.
As always if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

New divisions have been posted.
We are still missing some gamesheets from the seeding round which need to be input. Once these gamesheets have been input we will zero the standings. Note that Div A is the only division which did not have any changes so they will not be reset.
Remainder of round robin 2 schedule is to be posted by Wednesday evening.

Thursday, November 10, 2011 |
Hey Guys,
John is posting the first games for the next round robin on the website as you read this. He will still need to do his cross-referencing to make sure that no errors have been made so you may wish to check again tomorrow morning.
I will be changing the teams to there new divisions over the next few days.
Here are the changes from the first (and hopefully last) realignment:
- no changes in Div A
- Kings (Puffalt) drop from B to C
- Dragons drop from B to D
- Fighting Saints up from C to B
- Optiema Kings up from D to B
- Cow Punchers drop from C to D
- Chivas up from D to C
- Bullets drop from E to G
- Brewhouse Bullets up from F to E
- Wolverines down from F to H
- Tools down from G to H
- Calgary Phantoms up from H to F
- Puck Pimps up from H to F
- The Horsemen drop from H to J
- Pylons up from I to H
- Lucky Pucks drop from I to J
- HK Croatia drop from I to J
- Wolfpack drop from I to J
- Glory Hounds up from J to I
- Iceholes 2 up from J to I
Division I will now consist of 7 teams. If after this round this division stays the same size teams will have a choice to play 6 game rounds robins and get a refund for the missing game or to play an unbalanced schedule which will make up these games.
Cheers,
Fred Z.

Further expansion. |

Looking for a new league? Tired of 11:00PM (or later) icetimes?
The All Cal is expanding... again!
Good Day!
Thank you for your interest in joining the All Cal Hockey League. Here is some background about the All Cal Hockey League and other information that you may be interested in. For the 2011-12 season the All Cal Hockey League will be expanding to 72 teams (9 divisions of 8 teams) from 56 teams (7 divisions of 8 teams) due to the fact that we were able to obtain some additional ice last season at the new Winsport/COP facility. This means that I will be accepting at least 16 new teams. NOTE: currently 9 of the 16 spots have been filled. Each team will play 28 regular season games (1 round robin of 7 games for the seeding round followed by 3 round robins of 7 games for the completion of the regular season you will play each team in your division 4 times). The top 6 teams in each division will qualify for playoffs (double-knockout format). The division champion will have a choice of $500 cash or a $1000 credit with Tradewind Promotions (they supply hockey jerseys, golf shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) Note that because of the expansion there is a possibility that there may be a realignment after the second round-robin as well. The All Cal uses a seeding round format. The seeding round is the first round robin (7 games) that each team will play. This seeding round will determine if any teams (being too strong or too weak) should be moved into other divisions that they may be more competitive in for the remainder of the season. The seeding round record of teams does not count. This is because the teams that start 7-0 may move up into a stronger division and qualify for the playoffs because of their quick start in a weaker division. On the opposite side, teams which start 0-7 and are moved into a weaker division may not qualify for the playoffs because of their poor start. By zero-ing team standings after the seeding round every team will be playing the same amount of games against teams within its own division. Current Ice Contracts: Mondays - 10:00PM - Norma Bush

Reminder - NO ALCOHOL POLICY |
Posted By: Fred Z. |
Thursday, November 04, 2010 |
Hey Guys,
I just had a conversation with the GM of the Corral and it seems that some teams are violating the "No Alcohol Policy". Be reminded that you are not permitted to consume alcohol in any arenas that we use and in any of the parking lots as they are deemed part of the facility we are renting.
It is up to you as team reps and players to make sure that this policy is enforced. I have suspended teams in the past for violating this rule and I will not hesitate to do so again.
As I have indicated in the past I take this issue very seriously as the No Alcohol Policy is in effect at every rink we play at. By teams violating this rule they are putting our icetimes is jeopardy. I guess you and your teammates just have to ask yourself that if you think that drinking a beer in the facility is worth you being suspended from a league, forfeiting some of your league fees (if not all) and giving up playing in a league in Calgary with the latest time being 10:30PM to playing in other leagues with icetimes at 11:45PM in Chestermere, Airdire, Indus, Cochrane, etc.
If it comes down to me suspending teams to maintain my ice contracts and the integrity of the league I do not have any problem doing that.

Playoffs - Shootout Rules |
Posted By: Fred Z. |
Friday, March 05, 2010 |
Hey Guys!
Just a reminder of how we have to deal with the All Cal Playoffs since each game is required to have a winner.
- should a game be tied with 10 minutes left on the PERMIT time the clock will be dropped to TWO minutes. If a team scores during this two minutes the result will stand. If the game is still tied after the two minutes the game will go into a shootout.
- each team is to supply 5 shooters. Lower seed (higher ranked in standings) is to indicate whether they wish to shoot first or second.
- if after 5 shooters game is still tied then one shooter from each side will go until a winner is determined.
- teams must go through all players (except goalies) before a player has the opportunity to shoot again.
- players that were serving a minor penalty upon completion of the game are ineligible.
- players that were serving majors or game misconducts are not eligible to particpate in the shootout.
Thanks,
Fred Z.

Hey Guys,
I attempted to do the rescheduling from Feb 6 though the end of the regular season but in cross-referencing I noticed some errors. Rather than leave this schedule up I have removed all games after February 5. I will have the games for Saturday, February 6th up by Tuesday morning - we have 9 slots on this day so half the league will be playing. Super Bowl is Sunday, February 7. I am planning to have games from Feb 8-12 done by Thursday night. No games are scheduled for the Family Day weekend (Feb 13-15). I am hoping to have the remainder of the schedule posted by Monday, February 8.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hey Guys,
I just had a conversation with the GM of Sarcee and it seems that some teams are violating the "No Alcohol Policy" at Sarcee. Be reminded that you are not permitted to consume alcohol anywhere on the Tsui Tina Reserve.
It is up to you as team reps to make sure that this policy is enforced. One team has already been suspended because of violating this rule.

What does DQ-$ mean? |
Posted By: Fred Z. |
Sunday, January 03, 2010 |
You may notice that next to some teams names that they have DQ-$. What this means is that they have yet to make full payment for outstanding league fees and late fees. Should any of these teams qualify for playoffs they would be disqualified. Teams have until Monday, February 15th to submit payment. This will allow me to re-work the schedule should their be a division with less that 6 teams which will qualify for playoffs. This will also allow any checks which bounce to be caught prior to the start of playoffs (yes, it has happened in the past). This rule has been in place for the past couple of seasons. No extensions will be granted as teams are already 2 months late (fees were due in full on November 1). Thanks, Fred Z. |
Realignment Complete |
Posted By: Fred Z. |
Monday, November 09, 2009 |
The seeding rounds are almost complete and here are the results:
- Brewhouse Bullets will be dropping from Div B to Div C while the Chivas will be moving up from Div C to Div B.
- Chiefs will be dropping from Div C to Div D while Whalers will be moving up from Div D to Div C.
- Cunning Stunts will be dropping from Div D to Div E while the Pylons will be moving up from Div E to Div D.
I will be reworking the schedules on Wednesday, November 11.
It should be noted that all schedules were changed about two weeks ago as I was able to pick up some additional primetime slots from the Corral. The Rustlers were also able to obtain a sheet of ice so they now have a home slot (this resulted in some additonal scheduling changes). What I did was take the games which were scheduled for the end of the season and moved them into these new slots. Our regular season is now scheduled to finish on March 11th. I am hoping that I will be able to get all the playoffs completed by the end of March. As always, team are to contact me by January 1 with which dates to avoid. Not all requests may be granted as some teams were booking of 15-20 dates.
Good Luck in the regular season.

2009-2010 Schedule released |
Posted By: Fred Z. |
Monday, September 07, 2009 |
Hey Guys, The schedule has been released on the website. For those of you who are not able to see your schedule it is because I have yet to receive your second payment. If you want to see your schedule ASAP it is best to get me your second payment ASAP.
The schedule may change slightly in the second half (Jan-Mar) as I have yet to recieve contracts from the City arenas and they usually pull away some sheets for Minor Hockey Week, Ringette Gold Ring, etc. These contracts are usually released in early December so changes will be made by the Christmas Break (Dec 23)
As always, all the arenas we use have a "No Alcohol" policy. Note that at Sarcee you are not able to drink in the parking lot as the Tsui Tina is a "dry" reserve. Violation of this rule may cause the immediate suspenion of your team from the league.
Cheers,
Fred Z.
