Playoffs - Shootout Rules
Posted by: Fred Z.
Friday, March 05, 2010

Hey Guys!

Just a reminder of how we have to deal with the All Cal Playoffs since each game is required to have a winner.

- should a game be tied with 10 minutes left on the PERMIT time the clock will be dropped to TWO minutes.  If a team scores during this two minutes the result will stand.  If the game is still tied after the two minutes the game will go into a shootout.
- each team is to supply 5 shooters.  Lower seed (higher ranked in standings) is to indicate whether they wish to shoot first or second.
- if after 5 shooters game is still tied then one shooter from each side will go until a winner is determined.
- teams must go through all players (except goalies) before a player has the opportunity to shoot again.
- players that were serving a minor penalty upon completion of the game are ineligible.
- players that were serving majors or game misconducts are not eligible to particpate in the shootout.

Thanks,
Fred Z.

Schedule Update

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Hey Guys,

I attempted to do the rescheduling from Feb 6 though the end of the regular season but in cross-referencing I noticed some errors.  Rather than leave this schedule up I have removed all games after February 5.  I will have the games for Saturday, February 6th up by Tuesday morning - we have 9 slots on this day so half the league will be playing.  Super Bowl is Sunday, February 7.  I am planning to have games from Feb 8-12 done by Thursday night.  No games are scheduled for the Family Day weekend (Feb 13-15).  I am hoping to have the remainder of the schedule posted by Monday, February 8.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Reminder - NO ALCOHOL POLICY
Posted by: Fred Z.
Monday, January 11, 2010

Hey Guys,

I just had a conversation with the GM of Sarcee and it seems that some teams are violating the "No Alcohol Policy" at Sarcee.  Be reminded that you are not permitted to consume alcohol anywhere on the Tsui Tina Reserve.

It is up to you as team reps to make sure that this policy is enforced.  One team has already been suspended because of violating this rule.

As I have indicated in the past I take this issue very seriously as the No Alcohol Policy is in effect at every rink we play at.  By teams violating this rule they are putting our icetimes is jeopardy.  I guess you and your teammates just have to ask yourself that if you think that drinking a beer in the facility is worth you being suspended from a league, forfeiting some of your league fees (if not all) and giving up playing in a league in Calgary with the latest time being 10:30PM to playing in other leagues with icetimes at 11:45PM in Chestermere, Airdire, Indus, Cochrane, etc.

If it comes down to me suspending teams to maintain my ice contracts and the integrity of the league I do not have any problem doing that.

What does DQ-$ mean?
Posted by: Fred Z.
Sunday, January 03, 2010

You may notice that next to some teams names that they have DQ-$.  What this means is that they have yet to make full payment for outstanding league fees and late fees.

Should any of these teams qualify for playoffs they would be disqualified.

Teams have until Monday, February 15th to submit payment.  This will allow me to re-work the schedule should their be a division with less that 6 teams which will qualify for playoffs.  This will also allow any checks which bounce to be caught prior to the start of playoffs (yes, it has happened in the past).

This rule has been in place for the past couple of seasons.  No extensions will be granted as teams are already 2 months late (fees were due in full on November 1).

Thanks,

Fred Z.

Realignment Complete
Posted by: Fred Z.
Monday, November 09, 2009

The seeding rounds are almost complete and here are the results:

 - Brewhouse Bullets will be dropping from Div B to Div C while the Chivas will be moving up from Div C to Div B.
 - Chiefs will be dropping from Div C to Div D while Whalers will be moving up from Div D to Div C.
 - Cunning Stunts will be dropping from Div D to Div E while the Pylons will be moving up from Div E to Div D.

I will be reworking the schedules on Wednesday, November 11.

It should be noted that all schedules were changed about two weeks ago as I was able to pick up some additional primetime slots from the Corral.  The Rustlers were also able to obtain a sheet of ice so they now have a home slot (this resulted in some additonal scheduling changes).  What I did was take the games which were scheduled for the end of the season and moved them into these new slots.  Our regular season is now scheduled to finish on March 11th.  I am hoping that I will be able to get all the playoffs completed by the end of March.  As always, team are to contact me by January 1 with which dates to avoid.  Not all requests may be granted as some teams were booking of 15-20 dates.

Good Luck in the regular season.

2009-2010 Schedule released
Posted by: Fred Z.
Monday, September 07, 2009

Hey Guys,

The schedule has been released on the website.  For those of you who are not able to see your schedule it is because I have yet to receive your second payment.    If you want to see your schedule ASAP it is best to get me your second payment ASAP.

The schedule may change slightly in the second half (Jan-Mar) as I have yet to recieve contracts from the City arenas and they usually pull away some sheets for Minor Hockey Week, Ringette Gold Ring, etc.  These contracts are usually released in early December so changes will be made by the Christmas Break (Dec 23)

As always, all the arenas we use have a "No Alcohol" policy.  Note that at Sarcee you are not able to drink in the parking lot as the Tsui Tina is a "dry" reserve.  Violation of this rule may cause the immediate suspenion of your team from the league.

Cheers,
Fred Z.
